NDI provided program support for Shipboard Pollution Abatement systems.

Performed research, analysis and developed surface ship environmental system specifications, including engineering documentation as required to identify environmental system requirements for surface ships and submarines.

Reviewed and revised technical documentation such as, specifications, PTD, test procedures, repair guides and training instructions.

Conducted instructional seminar courses and on-site training for ship's force in the operation and maintenance of pollution abatement systems.

NDI provided design, engineering, logistics and technical support to NSWCCD Code 22, Surface Ships Department, to support ship systems development, maintenance and upgrade programs. Performed research and analysis, performed site and shipchecks in support of system research and development, developed drawings, engineering data and reports for system concepts, development, installation and test, and provided program support services in the areas of database development and maintenance, presentation and meeting support.

Under this contract, NDI is tasked to provide Field Reps to perform in-service engineering function. Current reps are stationed in Kings' Bay, New London and Pearl Harbor. Our technicians utilized system drawings, DOD standards, electrical cables and wireways installation standards, and a list of related maintenance procedures to conduct over 90 sail closeout/arrival inspections including post refit, post ERO and routine availability on SSN 21, SSN 688 and SSBN 726 Class submarines, submitted 3 major written operating procedural changes for the BRR-6/B and BRA-24 deployed antenna systems. Provided technical expertise to repair activities and Shipyards concerning resolutions in operations, maintenance, installation design and logistics related to periscope, masts and deployed antenna systems. Provided on the spot training and resolutions for ship's force sail coordinators to assist them in effecting a productive refit in the sail and sail zone areas which include periscopes, masts, antennas and many items that are not assigned to any particular command. Key in creating and employing a 726 class failure database that will support trend analysis and justification for future system upgrades.

NDI furnished engineering and technical support associated with Aircraft
Carrier Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) systems at
NAWCADLKE, installing activities and aboard aircraft carriers. Possessed
comprehensive Steam Catapult and Arresting Gear knowledge and experience
and the capability to successfully execute all launcher in-service
procedures while following all appropriate safety measures. Gathered
engineering data necessary to resolve fleet/CAFSU issues. These efforts
required on-site technical support and guidance. Provided on-site
shipboard guidance for the installation and certification of Steam
Catapults.

PSGS supports PMS450 to ensure the establishment and maintenance of
long-term engineering, operation, and maintenance in-service VIRGINIA
Class Submarines. PSGS works with NAVSEA to develop programs to ensure
that the VIRGINIA Class has the capability to modernize or insert
technologies to keep the VIRGINIA Class at the forefront of technology.
Specific examples include:

Development and maintenance of out year schedules and budgets for availabilities and overhauls.

Development and maintenance of test schedules.

Planned transfer of engineering, logistics, and planning support personnel as the VIRGINIA Class begins to transfer to in-service submarines.

Support of the development of provisioning packages, training packages, and material control packages.

Support of the SUBSAFE and Scope of Certification programs, including post delivery requirements, i.e., re-entry control.
PSGS’s current support to PMS450 in the in-service engineering function mainly consists of long range planning, budgeting, and requirements development. This effort will expand considerably as the VIRGINIA Class progresses from the construction to in-service stages.
