SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER Job Duties: Develop designs for propulsion and power generation machinery shaft systems. Requires experience in the development of machinery alignment analyses, shaft component designs and rotating machinery specifications. Experience in vibration analysis would also be beneficial. Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Security Clearance. Years of experience: 15 years in the design of Marine Ship Systems; Navy Ship Systems a plus. SOFTWARE ENGINEER Seeking a Software Engineer with working knowledge of software development. The successful candidate must be able to work independently to establish and manage new software and interface requirements for an existing program, develop design documentation, and establish program plans and schedules within a larger Integrated Product Team (IPT). Position requires at least 5 years of active experience with software development and a working knowledge/use of formal software management tools. Knowledge of SQL, data modeling, UML, XML, OpenGL, JAVA, JOGL, C++, C#, MFC, ActiveX, COM, graphic user interfaces (GUI), HSI standards, operating systems and network protocols highly desired. The Candidate should demonstrate effective software team leadership experience and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. MACHINERY CONTROLS JUNIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER Job Description: Support NSWCCD Code 958 in distance and onsite troubleshooting and repair of LHD 8 Class Machinery Control System (MCS) hardware and software problems identified by ships force personnel. Operationally test, troubleshoot and repair the LHD 8 Class Machinery Control System (MCS). Troubleshoot and repair Versa Module Eurocard (VME) based systems. Required Skills: Essential: Shipboard or industrial experience with machinery control system installation, operational testing, troubleshooting, and repair. Experience troubleshooting software-based machinery control systems. Experience with MCS hardware interfaces. Experience in reviewing schematics to isolate shipboard issues and redlining drawings if discrepancy were found. Desired: Versa Module Eurocard (VME) Bus experience. HULL DESIGN ENGINEER Individual will be responsible for basic design, detail design, and field engineering activities as required by the department workload. The individual will interface with planning, procurement, other design departments, design sub-contractors, and production personnel as required to complete their assigned activities. Essential Duties: Review structural arrangements using the Classification Society rules while considering shipyards construction restraints. Develop, review, and check basic design drawings and calculations to support ship classification and detail design activities. This may include design and analysis sub-contractor oversight. Develop, review, and check detail design work package documentation, such as the workshop drawing, plate and panel cutting information, sub-assembly drawings, and panel line milling and cutting information for release to production, this may include design sub-contractor oversight. Interface with the Building Method planner, Transportation planner, and other design department engineers to ensure the Hull Design information includes information such the proper part destination, lifting back-up structure, and penetrations. Provide field engineering support as required to support production activities, blue mark inspections or responding to production questions developed throughout construction of the ship. Approve Design Change Notice (DCN) documentation and note possible design improvements to the hull construction information. Approve as-built drawings of the ship at time of delivery. Collect and report steel weight information developed during the basic, and detail design phases to the Project department for ship weight monitoring. We are looking for individuals with experience in ship structural design or equivalent structural experience. Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar. HULL FIELD ENGINEER Individual will be responsible for field engineering activities as required by department workload. The individual will interface with planning, procurement, other design departments, design sub-contractors, and production personnel as required to complete their assigned activities. Perform detail design of assigned equipment and systems or areas of the vessel. Assist manufacturing, building, installation or testing of systems or areas of vessel. Provide field correction and repair instructions for piping and other mechanical issues. Basic calculations of assigned system or areas of vessel. General detail design drawings and DCNs of assigned systems or areas of vessel. Experience in ship structural design or equivalent structural experience. Addition requirements: BS in Engineering or AS in Technology, Drafting or equivalent with 2 years experience in the Engineering Field, 3D modeling software such as Tribon, or Intergraph SmartMarine, plate nesting, and/or post processing, ERP systems such as SAP or projector and scheduling software such as MS Project. ELECTRICAL/CONTROLS TECHNICIAN/TECHNICAL TRAINER/NAVY INSTRUCTOR Navy Instructor qualified to develop curriculum and conduct classroom and laboratory training for U.S. and foreign military students. The candidate develops, oversees work of more junior trainers and presents complex training programs for customers. Obtains technical data, develop or update curriculum, and coordinate training events. Conducts training programs on all topics and designs and develops training program elements/modules. He/she formulates training policies and schedules, and utilizes knowledge of identified training needs, company production processes, business systems, or changes in products, procedures, or services. The candidate oversees and reviews the development of teaching aids including training manuals, demonstration models, reference materials and visual aids. The candidate should be very familiar with ships/ship systems and possess electrical degree or experienced with controls, electric signals, able to read and interpret electrical drawings schematics and diagrams and with some training/instructor experience. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (Entry Level) The Philadelphia, PA office NDI Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a concentration in power systems to support the development and testing of Naval Ship Electrical Power Systems. The selected candidates will be interfacing with U.S. Navy civilian engineers, program managers and logisticians as well as equipment manufacturers. Assisting in design and engineering of shipboard electrical power generation and distribution systems. Preparing, revising, and/or reviewing technical manuals, engineering operating procedures, instructions, specifications, standards and PMS documentation for cognizant equipment and systems. Conducting shipboard and land-based testing, investigations, analyses and evaluations of equipment to determine causes of operational problems and casualties and provide engineering solutions to improve operational availability. Conducting engineering development and Test and Evaluation (T&E) support. BS in Electrical Engineering; 1-3 years of electrical power systems experience (will consider recent graduate with applicable co-op experience in power systems or computer programming skill). Experience with shipboard electrical systems a definite plus knowledge with Electrical Generation and Distribution Equipment. Will consider commercial power generation experience. The position may require up to 25% travel to attend ships visit, program review/status meetings.
